Becoming an Entrepreneur

Do you dream of being your own boss? Have you got a great idea for a business, but don’t know how to launch it? Or perhaps, you are already self-employed or freelancing and looking to maximise your potential?

If so, our brand-new course for 16-25-year-olds, ‘Becoming an Entrepreneur’ could be for you.

Starting this Autumn, the programme kicks off with a 2-month intensive business planning and training course consisting of virtual workshops and careers talks covering the essential skills required to be an entrepreneur.

On successful completion, participants can apply for a 10-month mentoring scheme where you will be matched with a business mentor to support you and your fledgling business.

The core modules will cover:

  • Introduction to the programme
  • Exploring your business idea & how to write a business plan
  • How to secure funding
  • Managing your business finances, from bank accounts to taxes
  • Embedding values into your business, from employing people to managing your supply chain
  • Professional behaviour, personal branding and networking
  • Presentation skills and how to craft your elevator pitch

Building Future Innovation Award

At the end of the programme we will award 10 individuals the opportunity to access a start-up bursary package worth £600 to help turn your ideas into a thriving initiative.

We are seeking young people who have the potential to run thriving businesses but for whom traditional employment has barriers or is unfulfilling. This course, run by industry experts and successful business owners will give you the confidence to achieve your career dreams.

To be eligible to apply for this course you must be aged 16-25, living in Greater London, Manchester, or Birmingham, and from a BAME (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic) background.
