In December, we announced our collaboration with schuh, who were looking for one talented young designer of diverse ethnic heritage to curate a tote bag to be sold online and in-store.

Whether a graphic designer, artist, or creative type, Blueprint for All made a call to young people across the country to submit a winning design based on our online resource ‘We all have the power to make a difference‘, which marked the one year anniversary of the murder of George Floyd.

As well as gaining a transformative level of exposure, the winner receives a £1,500 cash prize to support their future as an artist. In 2013, the percentage of graphic designers in the UK who were of diverse ethnic heritage stood as just 6.7% according to ONS data – we hope that with a scheme such as this, the design industry can start taking greater strides to examine their inclusion and representation.

But now, we announce our winner…

The winner of the Blueprint for All x schuh tote bag competition is…

Congratulations to Roxanne from we are raya for her incredible design!

Our judging panel felt that she encapsulated the message from our online resource amazingly, and put her own creative flair on the design brief.

Thank you for the inspiring brief and the opportunity to work together!

Keep an eye out in Spring this year for when these amazing totes go on sale.

We are so lucky to be able to say that all the profits generated from these bags will be donated to Blueprint For All to continue to help us support young people and communities of diverse ethnic heritage, providing tangible opportunities that enable them to thrive, whilst driving systemic change in organisations and society.

The tote bag competition continues our ongoing partnership with schuh, as we work together to foster diverse talent. Not only does this innovative approach support our work, but directly allows one of our young people to propel their career and inspire others, by having their design both seen and bought nationally.
