Pathways to professions, a newly-relaunched programme from Blueprint for All which provides career guidance to young people of diverse ethnic heritage

Pathways to Professions programme works with schools to provide young people from Year 5 to Year 10 with skills, opportunities and knowledge to build their career aspirations.

 

Pathways to Professions programme works with schools to provide young people in both primary and secondary schools in London, Birmingham and Manchester with skills, opportunities and knowledge to build their career aspirations. The programme includes workshops and talks delivered by aspirational industry professionals, mentoring, and career carousels.

 

Since March 2020, the programme has been provided online.

How do we support primary school children to think about their future?

How can we encourage our youngest to succeed in life? Our Pathways to Profession programme inspires and enables students of diverse ethnic heritage to pursue whatever career they set their mind to.

Delivered by global professional services firm Marsh McLennan, pupils will be provided with 10 career workshops. Topics include:

  • Support for students to understand the link between education and career
  • Learning about different professional careers available and routes to these careers
  • Personal development sessions
  • Access to inspiring and relatable professionals

Clothworkers’ Pathways to Professions

Our second Pathway to Professions programme, delivered by Clothworkers, includes six career workshops which covers:

  • CV building and interview preparation workshops
  • Inspirational career talks delivered by specialist professions
  • Access to bespoke careers resources

Secondary Programme

Our Pathways to Progressions secondary programme inspires and enables students in years 8-10 who are of diverse ethnic heritage to understand the breadth of career opportunities available and broaden their knowledge of which skills are required to succeed in the workplaces of the future.

Pupils will be provided with 6 career workshops. Workshops will include:

  • Support for students to understand build on employability skills
  • Learning about different professional careers available and routes to these careers
  • Cv and interview preparation
  • Access to inspiring and relatable professionals
  • Workplace visit tours
  • Toolkits to support learning

Building flexibility into secondary schools - Timewise

Secondary Schools (Extended)

We also provide an extended Pathways to Progressions secondary programme that inspires and enables students in years 8-10 who are of diverse ethnic heritage to pursue whatever career they set their mind to. This programme offers a more in-depth intervention, providing students with personal development support.

Pupils will be provided with 9 career workshops. Workshops will include:

  • Support for students to understand the link between education and career
  • Insights into possible next steps after secondary education
  • Learning about different professional careers available and routes to these careers
  • Personal development sessions
  • Access to inspiring and relatable professionals
  • Workplace visit tours
  • Toolkits to support learning

How do we support sixth form students to think about their future?

Pathways to Professions for sixth form students, is accumulated of 10 specialised career workshops, funded by Barclays. Dedicated to inspiring students in years 12-13 of diverse ethnic heritage to follow their career aspirations- whatever they may be.

As part of the workshops, our programmes team will:

  • Support for students to understand how their current stage of education links to professional success
  • Learning about different professional careers available and routes to these careers
  • Access to inspiring and relatable professionals
